The ideal time to travel to Phu Quoc
You can travel to Phu Quoc anytime around the year, but the most ideal is the dry season. At this time, the pleasant weather creates favorable conditions for tourism activities. You can walk around, participate in outdoor activities, go swimming, etc. Once I decided to depart for Phu Quoc in May. Although it was the rainy season, fortunately, I only encountered the early morning rains, which did not affect the journey.
Notes:
- The dry season: From November to April
- The rainy season: From May to October
Means of transportation
You can move to Phu Quoc both by airway and by roadway. The fastest and most convenient way is by air. Currently, domestic airlines are operating routes to Phu Quoc from several cities with only 1-2 hours flight time.
With the roadway option, the cost is not much cheaper than going by plane, but the distance is rather long and time-consuming. From Ho Chi Minh City, you will go by road to Rach Gia (210 km from Phu Quoc) or Ha Tien (45 km from Phu Quoc), then move by express boat or ferry to the island.
In my opinion, the plan of going by airway is the most optimal for you to have enough time and health to explore the beauty of Phu Quoc comfortably.
Ticket price:
- Hanoi - Phu Quoc: about 1,300,000 VND/ticket, including taxes and fees ($56,52)
- Ho Chi Minh - Phu Quoc: about 500,000 VND/ticket, including taxes and fees ($21,74)
Hotels and resorts on Phu Quoc Island
During this 3-day-2-night trip, I chose the 4-star Lahana Resort Phu Quoc right on the main street of Tran Hung Dao (91/3 Tran Hung Dao street, Duong Dong town). The most attractive point in Lahana is the green space and many entertainment activities. I'm going in a group of three people, so I book a Deluxe Triple Garden room for 1,760,000 VND/night ($76,51). The hotel will give you an extra discount voucher for spa services during your stay. My room overlooks the garden, surrounded by trees, has tables and chairs on the balcony to drink tea and coffee while enjoying the open air. An electric car takes you to visit the campus or to the restaurant or swimming pool for free in the resort. The service is excellent, and I have a very suitable choice.
